Visser: Lebtin Javelin Fish by Monster-Man-08 Visser: Lebtin Javelin Fish by Monster-Man-08
<Ah, splitting up, eh? Well, that will only affect the order in which I kill each of you. What have I heard the human children say? Ah yes, eeny, meeny, miney, moo.>

Definitely one of my favorite quotes of the series!

Something of a cross between a pufferfish, a stingray, and a crossbow, the Lebtin Javelin Fish is apparently safe enough of a creature to be put in alien zoos and aquariums, which consider things like underwater tunnels crazy.

Visser Three morphs this aquatic beast in book #12, where he is defeated fairly quickly, being *popped* by one of the 'Andalite bandits' in crocodile morph.

BOOK: Animorphs #12 - The Reaction

awesome fish alien, those organic javelins must hurt like hell once they launch these at victims like poison darts.

That quote always stuck out for me, too. I don't really remember if the Visser had such a psychotic sense of humor throughout the series, but he definitely was a large ham.

See, this thing bothered me more than the organic wheels did. How does it load its spines to fire them? Why would it evolve such a mechanism? How does it regenerate spines fast enough for this to be an effective defense?

Yes I know I am nit-picking the biology of a creature from a YA sci-fi book. Please don't remind me.

I can't say for sure but I some idea to answer those questions. 1. Its two tentacles might be used to grab the spines and manipulate them into its mouth. 2. Likely for hunting and/or defense, same reason any Earth-based creature evolves weapons. 3. It might actually take time to regenerate (or it might even try to reclaim and reuse them), but it does seem to have a lot of spares.

I hope this helped (though I realize it's been a while since you've actually had these questions but I figured someone should finally answer them)

I don't know why, but I always remember Ax's unintentionally funny line that's something like "I have changed my mind, I do not want to see a Lebtin Javelin Fish." :XD:

Oh wow! I think these are great! Now to visualize them more as we re-re-re-re-read the books over and over!
