So he endlessly trudges through the sea of grasping hands, silently mocking them yet always staying on the move lest one of them manages to drag him under.

Reminds me of the Dead Yetis. Have you ever drawn anything from the Zamonia book series? There's some interesting creatures in there, like Shark Grubs and Nocturnomaths.
