Kafit Bird by Monster-Man-08 Kafit Bird by Monster-Man-08
A multi-winged bird (the exact number of wings depends on who you ask...) from the Andalite homeworld, the Kafit is a swift predator that hunts arboreal prey by spearing them with its razor sharp beak. Widely considered the best of the planet's three species of bird, many young cadets morph the kafit for fun (though evidently not during Aximili's day...), and throughout the series we see no less than three Andalites take on this form.

BOOK: Animorphs #18 - The Decision; #38 - The Arrival; The Andalite Chronicles

So who disagrees on the number of wings? Did someone say it had six wings rather than six pairs, or sommat?

...It looks like it's wearing a scarf. =3

Ax said the Kafit bird had 6 wings, while Elfangor said it had twelve. Elfangor also implies it's a fairly common morph, while Ax completely freaks out when he sees Visser Three morphs one, believing the Yeerks have access to the Andalite homeworld and that it's not at all something the visser's host Alloran acquired beforehand. Needless to say it is all rather confusing...

maybe it's sexual dimorphism, with different sexes having different numbers of wings, or one sex possessing large display fans which could be mistaken for wings?
